Justin DeRose
Co-Founder
Justin began pulling weeds and mowing lawns as a teenager. He noticed a lack of professionalism in the landscaping industry. After a couple of name changes, he established Blue Sky Landscapes, a company that thrives on communication focused on the customer's needs. He transformed a "mow, blow, and go" business into one of the most successful landscaping companies on the Gulf Coast.
Fast forward 20 years. After earning multiple licenses and certifications, including a pest control license, he decided to partner with Shawn Brown, a horticultural expert, to create Blue Sky Turf Solutions. This integrated pest control company prioritizes the needs and wants of its customers. We focus on honesty and integrity. While it's true that we can't guarantee a completely weed-free lawn, we can take the necessary steps to make it as close to perfect as possible.
SHAWN BROWN
Co-Founder
Shawn began mowing lawns in 1993 to supplement his income and pay his way through college. Shawn earned a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Policy, specializing in Resource Management, from the University of West Florida in 1996. He also completed postgraduate studies in Agricultural Engineering and Education at the University of Florida in 1998 and 1999.
From 1996 to 2000, he spent the first four and a half years after college as a horticulturist for the University of Florida Cooperative Extension Service, based in Santa Rosa County. His primary responsibilities included educating homeowners and farmers on proper landscaping and integrated pest management techniques.
From 2000 to 2005, he served as County Arborist, Environmental Analyst, and Land Management Planner for the Escambia County Board of County Commissioners in Florida. Since 2005, he has worked in the private sector as a Regional Director of Operations within the landscape community, managing high-density commercial and residential landscape construction maintenance, irrigation, and horticultural spraying and fertilization companies across Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi.
He has held Certified Pest Control Operator Licenses in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi. In 2008, he founded EnviroLandCo Environmental & Horticulture Services, offering horticultural spray programs for turf and shrubs. As the owner/operator, he provided and performed day-to-day services until 2024. In that year, he partnered with business professional and liaison Justin Derose to co-found Blue Sky Turf Solutions, combining their talents to serve the region as a team. They aimed to leverage Shawn’s years of industry expertise and a proven, continually updated horticultural services program, along with Justin’s extensive experience and commitment to customer service and satisfaction, to meet the needs of local clients. Their approach prioritizes customer needs, utilizing the latest equipment, products, personnel, materials, and scientific advancements to deliver a horticultural services program that is unmatched in their service areas.
